You moved into a home with an existing home security system
Sometimes when you purchase a house, a home security system is already in use. All the components work, are installed in the right areas, and are ready to go. In this example, you might see that you have to call and establish a new contract. A Vivint expert will still show up to ensure there are no integration issues, and they may offer options on an upgrade or two. It's a quick visit, and you can have your monitoring set up without paying for any new components -- unless you get some new devices.
The previous homeowners can move an existing Vivint contract to you for a one-time set-up fee to make the transfer easier. If the outgoing residents downsize to an apartment complex or smaller home, turning over the security contract might be a part of the sale.
You are looking to move and take your home security components with you
You might need to bring your existing home security components with you to your new house when you move. Luckily, it's fairly easy to accomplish, as modern components are plug and play. You can uninstall each device by yourself or contact a professional expert to dismantle the system. Then a pro will put in the same components -- and any additions you need to put in -- in the new home. The home security contract will remain the same.
